Berlin/Hamburg, March 7, 2014 – The fourth Hamburg Cruise Days will be held August 1 - 3, 2014, attracting hundreds of thousands of cruise enthusiasts to the water’s edge. A number of cruise lines and their ships participate in the event, and for the first time, one of them will be involved as a premium partner: from the Hamburg stand at the ITB Berlin travel trade show, Hamburg Cruise Days organizers announced today that AIDA Cruises will be partnering for the 2014 and 2015 events.

Through its involvement and financial support, AIDA Cruises will be playing a major role in developing the strategy and content for Hamburg Cruise Days 2014 and 2015. Two of the cruise line’s ships will be making Hamburg Cruise Days a port of call in 2014: the AIDAluna and the AIDAstella. AIDA Cruises will also be bringing one of the themed areas to life along the perimeter of the harbor.

“The City of Hamburg and AIDA are linked by a long history of successful collaboration,” says Michael Ungerer, president of AIDA Cruises, explaining his cruise line’s involvement. “We’re pleased to be a part of this, because events like Hamburg Cruise Days make even more people excited about taking cruises – the nicest kind of vacation there is.”

Thorsten Kausch, who directs the Hamburg Convention Bureau, is also pleased with the company’s collaboration: “Besides being further evidence of AIDA’s commitment to Hamburg as a cruise destination, premium partnership with this cruise line also represents an important milestone in the successful development of this unique event format. This level of involvement is impressive for a young event like Hamburg Cruise Days, and once again enhances Hamburg’s status as a showcase for the cruise industry.”

Other partners will also be supporting Hamburg Cruise Days 2014, of course – event organizers have a broad portfolio of sponsoring options and customized solutions to offer. “We’re extremely happy to have AIDA Cruises as a premium partner,” says Uwe Bergmann of uba, the event management agency. “Their involvement sends a clear message about the quality of Hamburg Cruise Days. It also provides an opportunity for other companies to position themselves among prestigious partners.” Katja Derow of red roses communications adds, “AIDA is sending a terrific signal. With a partner like that, Hamburg Cruise Days is going to make decisive progress and move up to the next level.”

One of this year’s highlights will again be Blue Port Hamburg, a project by light artist Michael Batz, who will submerge the harbor and its prominent historic buildings in his magical blue light from July 29 through August 3, 2014. High points on the water will include a fleet of party boats for Hamburg Cruise Night on Friday, and the big Hamburg Cruise Days Parade on Saturday evening, when illuminated cruise ships will float down the Elbe accompanied by countless smaller craft.

Beginning in 2015, Hamburg Cruise Days and Seatrade Europe, the preeminent European trade show for the cruise industry, will be held at the same time every two years. A record number of ships are already lined up to participate in Hamburg Cruise Days 2015.
