Royal blue and The Queen: the Blue Port Hamburg Light-up
The Hamburg Cruise Days pur kicks off with a moving spectacle: on Friday evening, the legendary ocean liner Queen Mary 2 will be accompanying the Light-up of Blue Port Hamburg. Until 28 August, the port of Hamburg will remain illuminated in a magical blue.

Switched-on art: on 19 August at 9.15 pm, the Light-up of Blue Port Hamburg plunges the riverside and port in a magical blue light – marking the official start of this incredible artwork.
This year there’s a very special guest: the legendary ocean liner Queen Mary 2 will be accompanying this equally legendary event on Friday evening, adding an emotional resonance to the illuminations and creating the atmosphere that makes the Hamburg Cruise Days pur so unforgettable.
The creator of the Blue Port Hamburg illuminations is the internationally acclaimed lighting artist Michael Batz. His award-winning light projects and concepts have been seen in Salzburg, Florence, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Berlin. Batz first made a name for himself with Blue Goals, the city-wide light installation he created to coincide with the 2006 World Cup.




HE UNVEILED HIS BLUE PORT HAMBURG CONCEPT AT THE FIRST HAMBURG CRUISE DAYS FESTIVAL IN 2008. THIS YEAR WILL BE THE EIGHTH TIME THE INSTALLATION HAS BEEN STAGED.
